Losi Micro Rock Crawler in its Native Territory

Introducing the New Micro Rock Crawler
In November 2009, Team Losi released their long-awaited micro rock crawler. This addition to their micro line of r/c vehicles shares many drivetrain components with their 1:36 family, while simultaneously representing their greatest design departure from the rest of their two-wheel-drive micro line. Sporting an advanced four-wheel-drive system that has enough torque to overcome a surprising array of obstacles, the Losi Micro Rock Crawler is not only the smallest and least-expensive ready-to-run hobby-grade rock crawler on the market today, but it also provides an extremely fun and satisfying rock-crawling experience.

Micro Rock Crawler Components
A careful inspection of the micro rock crawler shows that Losi put a lot of effort into the design of this vehicle. The 4-link suspension and telescoping driveshafts provide generous suspension travel that articulates rough terrain very well. Metal worm gears provide a sturdy mechanical means to lock each wheel in place when not under power. 2.4GHz DSM technology (a first for any Losi micro vehicle) allows for less interference, less "glitching" or unwanted vehicle movement, and lower battery consumption. Losi also makes the micro rock crawler available without a transmitter (called their "Bind-N-Drive" package) which is more cost effective for those who already own a 2.4GHz transmitter.

Crawler Performance
In testing, the micro rock crawler proved to be very capable and surefooted for a vehicle of this size. It ascended inclines steeper than 45 degrees without toppling over, and traversed a wide variety of objects with ease. The crawler's tires (which are based on National Champion 2.2 Rock Claws) provided ample traction on everything from jagged rocks to smooth indoor surfaces.

Losi Durability
As if a low entry cost and disproportionately-large abilities weren't enough, the durability and maintenance cost of these vehicles are outstanding. At close inspection, every part of these vehicles seems to be very well made, and should repairs become necessary, parts for Losi micro vehicles are very inexpensive. Need new gears? The center transmission gear set including a slipper and set of pinions is only $7.99. Fancy a brand new motor after many tireless hours of crawling? Only $7.99 as well.

Where to Buy the Losi Micro Rock Crawler
If you are in the market for a durable, inexpensive r/c crawler that is just as much fun indoors as out, take a good look at Team Losi's micro rock crawler which can be purchased through TheToyz.com. (Remote-RC-Cars.com is not owned or operated by TheToyz.com.) With great prices, fast shipping, and a track record that inspires trust, they have a very good reputation in the R/C community. My personal experience as an R/C hobbyist is that their solid reputation is very well deserved.
